
Addis Ababa, March 12, 2019 – President Emmanuel Macron of France arrived in Lalibela, Amhara regional state, for a two-day state visit to Ethiopia.
Upon arrival, he was welcomed by Prime Minister Dr Abiy Ahmed.This is President Macron’s first state visit to Ethiopia.
In Lalibela, President Macron will also visit the Rock-Hewn Churches of Lalibela, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
During his visit, President Macron will meet with President Sahle-Work Zewde and Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed for talks on bilateral and regional issues of mutual benefit to the peoples of the two countries.
The two countries will also sign agreements on space and economic cooperation initiated by the private sector.
The two countries have enjoyed strong diplomatic relations since 1897.
